Liberia ist ein Land an der Atlantikküste West-Afrikas. Das Land hat eine Gesamtfläche von 111.370 km² und eine Küstenlänge von insgesamt 579 km. Diese Landmasse entspricht ungefähr 31 % der Größe Deutschlands. Liberia ist damit das 20st-kleinste Land in Afrika und weltweit auf Rang 104. Mehr als die Hälfte der Einwohner (53%) wohnt innerhalb der Städte. Jeder dritte Einwohner lebt in Monrovia.
Liberia liegt vergleichsweise niedrig auf einer Höhe von durchschnittlich 243 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel. Der höchste Berggipfel (Mount Wuteve) liegt auf 1.440 Metern Höhe. Direkte Landesgrenzen bestehen zu den 3 Nachbarstaaten Guinea, Elfenbeinküste und Sierra Leone. Die Entfernung zwischen Berlin und der Hauptstadt Monrovia beträgt ungefähr 5.600 km.
Aufgrund der wirtschaftlich schwachen Situation gilt Liberia als eines der am wenigsten entwickelten Länder und zählt zudem zu den hochverschuldeten Entwicklungsländern.
Mit einem durch­schnittlichen Jahres­einkommen von 646 Euro gehört es zu den Wenig­verdienst­ländern. Selbst unter Berücksichtigung der Kaufkraftparität gehört Liberia immer noch zu den ärmsten Ländern der Welt.

This land mass corresponds to approximately 31% of the size of Germany. This makes Liberia the 20th smallest country in Africa and 104th smallest in the world. More than half of the population (53%) lives within the cities. Every third inhabitant lives in Monrovia.
Liberia is comparatively low at an average altitude of 243 metres above sea level. The highest mountain peak (Mount Wuteve) is 1,440 metres above sea level. There are direct national borders with the 3 neighbouring states of Guinea, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone. The distance between Berlin and the capital Monrovia is approximately 5,600 kilometres.
Due to its economically weak situation, Liberia is considered one of the least developed countries and is also a highly indebted developing country.
With an average annual income of 646 euros, it is one of the low-income countries. Even taking purchasing power parity into account, Liberia is still one of the poorest countries in the world
